The survey wasconducted in two classes: “Physical Education I”, a liberal arts course for freshman in thedepartment, and “Climbing”, a specialized course for junior in the Department of Sport andCulture. The Mental Health Pattern Scale (MHP) and the Physical Activity EnjoymentScale (PACES) were used for the survey, and a total of four questionnaires wereadministered: two for bouldering and two for rope climbing. The results of the MHP showedno differences before all classes; the results of the pre- and post-class surveys on thePACES showed improvement in the first bouldering session and in the first and second ropeclimbing sessions, indicating an improvement effect of climbing on mental health.
