In the first experiment, a multiple-choice test using connectives revealed that identifying general-specific relations was the most challenging task. This difficulty arose mainly from confusion between general-specific and cause-effect relations. Furthermore, this confusion also occurred when participants were asked to predict the content following the connective, for example. In addition, when the passages from Experiment 1 were translated into Japanese, the accuracy rate for general-specific relations remained low, with similar errors caused by confusion between general-specific and cause-effect relations. The findings of this study highlight that understanding general-specific relations, which are particularly difficult to recognize, is one of the keys to achieving more accurate reading comprehension in English.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_6_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"identifier_registration","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.32150/0002000597","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_6_publisher_15":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"函館英語英文学会"}]},"item_6_source_id_7":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"0286-9896","subitem_source_identifier_type":"PISSN"}]},"item_6_version_type_12":{"attribute_name":"出版タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85","subitem_version_type":"VoR"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"SUZUKI, Shuhey","creatorNameLang":"en"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_access","date":[{"dateType":"Available"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"hakodateeibun_64_05.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"712.0 KB"}],"mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"url":"https://hokkyodai.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/2000597/files/hakodateeibun_64_05.pdf"},"version_id":"608d9a7a-7e2e-41f4-a0e8-c34730295436"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"item_resource_type","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"Analyzing the Interpretation of Logical Relations by Japanese EFL Learners in Reading Comprehension","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Analyzing the Interpretation of Logical Relations by Japanese EFL Learners in Reading Comprehension","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"6","owner":"5","path":["1746597634408"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2025-05-07"},"publish_date":"2025-05-07","publish_status":"0","recid":"2000597","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Analyzing the Interpretation of Logical Relations by Japanese EFL Learners in Reading Comprehension"],"weko_creator_id":"5","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2025-05-07T06:31:12.066032+00:00"}
