【Purpose】In the first report, a university baseball athlete with a high score on the Yips scale （71 points） was interviewed as part of an observational study to further understand Yips research based on the competition characteristics of baseball. 【Methods】The observational study was conducted by experts （3 physiotherapists, 1 sports surgeon, and 1 university baseball coach） on the subject’s pitching motion. The images were then interviewed by experts in observational studies. 【Results】The observational study revealed that there was “remaining weight on the axle” and “insufficient flexion / extension integration.” It was concluded that athletes who are prone to experiencing Yips exhibit these characteristics. 【Discussion】The results of the observational study indicated that the movement skills and inadequate conditioning adjustments were likely to decline for those who scored high on the Yips scale. This suggests that if a player feels something wrong when performing a pitching motion in baseball, it is important to review the conditioning adjustments, based on advice from a specialist （such as a coach or medical professional）. |
