内容記述 | This study intends to suggest implementing one-to-one computing initiatives in teaching the English language at schools in Uzbekistan. Although teaching and learning the English language is being enriched by applying new methods, students' results in tests and their motivation to learn the language are not significantly high. Learning good ends of one-to-one computing implementation in the OECD countries has revealed positive effects in the improvement of students’ academic achievement and their motivation at school. Therefore, the implementation of these initiatives in Uzbek schools is assumed to be one of the key factors to upgrade students’ motivation and achieve better results in learning English. To identify the current situation of using computers in teaching and learning English, 73 students from a school in Uzbekistan participated in a questionnaire. Responses to the questionnaire showed a low rate of using computers for learning compared to the OECD countries. Students’ academic achievement and motivation were not as high as those in the OECD countries. In this study, studies conducted on the effects of the introduction of technology into schools are also included and discussed to get suggestions on the implementation of one to one computing in Uzbek schools. These findings may hopefully contribute to improving student motivation to learn the English language and upgrade their academic achievement. | |||||||||
