| 内容記述 | Various Tachigami Rocks on the coast of Amami-Oshima Island in Kagoshima Prefecture are examined based on field geology and folklore literature. Ten geosites of the Island are described with their geology and chronostratigraphy, and determined geological attributions of Tachigami rocks. Based on chronostratigraphy, the horizons accompany with Tachigami rocks are divided into three ones, Late Jurrassic-Early Cretaceous, Late Cretaceous and Eocene, in ascending order. Yuwan Complex is represented by Nishikomi Tachigami Rock, which is sedimentary rocks in Late Jurassic horizon. Naon Complex is represented by Imazato, Shiba and Yoro Tachigami Rocks, which is sedimentary rocks in Early Cretaceous horizon. Amami Complex is characterized by Ankyaba, Negan, Naze and Ohama Tachigami Rocks and Tonbara Iwa Rocks, which are made of intrusions of volcanic rocks in Late Cretaceous horizon. Wano Formation （Eocene） is characterized by Setta Tachigami Rocks composed of sandstone and conglomerate. Various Tachigami Rocks are characterized by the sea stacks after differential weathering and erosion in coastal area. Folklore of Tachigami and Tonbara rocks in Amami-Oshima Island are mainly local origin but some folklore are related to the legend of Neriya-Kanaya. | |||||||
